Directions on How to  Install MSN Instant Messaging on Your Computer

 

Step One:

MSN Messenger

If you do not have this MSN messenger on your computer, click on a link provided below to download the free version of Microsoft MSN Messenger on your computer.  Remember to load the free version that fits your operating system:
Windows (version 4.6 for Microsoft® Windows® 95, 98, Me, 2000, or NT 4 operating system)
Windows XP  - (version 4.6 for XP)
Mac OS X (See detail for the version needed 3.0 or 2.1 based on your operating system)
 

Step Two:

Microsoft Passport

If you do not have a Microsoft Passport ID assigned to your work email,  sign up for your Microsoft Passport ID by clicking on the Sign In.net  button provided below.   By using this form, you can type in your work email without opening a hotmail or msn mail account.  You can use any email address, and assign your own password right away.  Don't forget to click on share my email address on the form.  This will allow others to see the address without seeing other personal information about you.

Step Three:

Sign into MSN Messenger

Click on the MSN Messenger icon on the bottom right hand side of your task bar.  Click on Tools, Options, the Accounts tab.  Click on the box .NET Passport under sign in on with this account, type your email address in the sign in name box under .NET Passport account, and type your password in underneath your email and click OK.  If you are not signed in yet, click on the text click here to sign in.  NOTE:  in the Tools, Options, Preferences Tab, the third choice down is show me away if I am inactive for "5 minutes" or so.  You may want to change this to 30 minutes or whatever time is best for you.

 

The three addresses that you can add to your contact list right away would be:

callkds@optonline.net - Kimberly Stokes Home

File Sharing Note:

If you have several teachers logged into your discussion you can click share a file and source out a file that you have saved.  Each member in your discussion will be notified that you are sharing a file, accept or decline?  They should accept and a link to your file will appear in the discussion area. They click on that link to open the file.  They can choose to do a save as or just close it when your done your discussion.  The sharing process is instantaneous!
