Arts Foundation Seeking Input from Community

An Appeal from the Chairwomen

The Joel Barlow Arts Foundation is looking forward to an exciting year. We are planning a musical event on the Blues, as well as events in the visual arts. We would like to start a Student Advisory Board, which would brainstorm for the future. Lastly, we would like to involve members of the community who are interested in the arts. Our goal is to increase appreciation of and participation in the arts in the Barlow Community!

The Joel Barlow Arts Foundation sincerely thanks the many members of the community for the generous donations received so far this year. Because of these generous donations, the Foundation will be able to expand our support of the arts at Barlow. Last year we supported several different art activities, most importantly the inclusion of our students in the design process of the lobby sculpture. If you have not contributed this year, it is not too late! Our programs are dependent on the money we receive, so please contribute generously.

This year, we are looking forward to the completion of the auditorium renovation, and we are planning an appreciation of the Blues, complete with an evening concert! We hope that this event will take place in March and will highlight local musicians. We are in the early stages of planning this event, and we invite you to express your opinion, bring a favorite musician to our attention, or just help us attend to the myriad details that this undertaking will require.

The Joel Barlow Arts Foundation will also continue to fund art experiences in the visual arts, and we welcome suggestions and help in this area. If you know a student who would like to participate on our Advisory Board, please have them come to our first meeting or contact Sarah Donovan. We also invite you to attend our first meeting, and in the meantime, please feel free to call Sarah Donovan at 459-0052 for more information.
