Community Supper - Golden Hill Methodist Church -

Eligibility for
participation:
All HKMS students on a first-come first-serve basis. (We are limited as
to the number of participants.)
Meeting
Times/Dates:
The second Wednesday of each month (months to be announced) from 2:50p.m
to 6:35p.m. Students meet in the Media Center to have a snack and
do homework before leaving to work at the soup kitchen. We leave HKMS
at about 4:00 P.M.. and return at 6:30 P.M.
Student
Responsibility:
Signed permission slip from parent.
Snack to eat while you're doing homework.
Willingness to serve the community.
Parent
Responsibility:
Provide transportation home from HKMS at approximately 6:35 P.M. Parent
volunteers are needed to drive students to and from the Golden Hill
Methodist Church in Bridgeport.
Expenses: None
Clothing
Drive – clothing collected for local area families
and Appalachian families.
Eligibility for
participation:
All HKMS students who can sort, box, and label boxes of clothing.
Meeting
Times/Dates:
Before and/or after regular school hours. Dates to be announced.
Student
Responsibility:
Permission to come to school early or stay for an hour after school.
Parent
Responsibility:
Parent volunteers will be needed at the end of each clothing drive to
deliver vans of clothing to various agencies in Bridgeport.
Expenses: None
UNICEF
Halloween Drive (United Nations International Children’s Emergency
Fund) 
Eligibility for
participation: All HKMS students who are willing to collect donations
for UNICEF. The monies are sent to UNICEF to help improve the quality
of life for children in our global village.
Meeting
Times/Dates:
Collect donations during the “Trick or Treat” time on Halloween (Oct.
31).
Student
Responsibility:
Signed permission slip from parent before Oct. 31st if he/she wishes to
participate.
Willingness to
help other children in our global village.
Parent
Responsibility: Discuss the concept of community service with your
child.
Expenses:
None. Official UNICEF boxes will be provided.
SOCK DRIVE (Bridgeport Rescue Mission
Incorporated,)
Socks, mittens and hats are being collected by Student Council
(5-6 and 7-8), 8th Grade Government,
Peer Leaders, and the Drama Club.
These items may be dropped off in the Guidance Office, Mr. Goad's room
or
Mrs. Menegay's room by Friday, March 14. They must be in new or
"in good condition", are needed for both children and adults and
are being distributed to needy families by the Bridgeport Rescue
Mission. |
